Funds required for migration?

I’m planning to migrate to either – Canada, Aus or NZ. What money will I need as a primary applicant in total for me & my wife? Also, can I show that money in kiind – such as property+liquid cash in a bank savings account+liquid cash in a post office+investments & so on…? Else do I need to show the entire amount in one single amount? A detailed answer will be much appreciated since I’ve already referred to those countries’ migration websites & have gotten more confused. Thanks very much for your assistance – really appreciated.

I don’t know about the other countries but if you come to Australia as an independent or employer sponsored migrant there are no specific financial requirements. Of course you would be foolish to come without adequate liquid funds to cover settlement expenses and to cater for emergencies and unemployment, but that is up to you.

If you come on a state sponsored visa, most states require that you have at least AUD$30k for yourself plus another $10k for each other applicant and in those cases, the money must be liquid but can be spread over several accounts or sources. The funds stay in your hands and you’re free to spend them as you wish – they’re only required to ensure that you have sufficient funds to allow you to settle and survive periods of unemployment without problems.

New immigrants have no access to government income support or unemployment benefits for 2 years after arrival.
