Getting into the Real Estate Market?
Hey everyone, I have worked in the closing end of home loans for 6 years now. I have decided on getting my Real Estate Agent license, then making my way up to becoming a broker one day. Or maybe working for an investment company. Just wanted some opinions on whether or not real estate is a good field to go into at the moment. I have talked to a few people about it most have said it’s good, you just need to take some time to get your name out there. I have had one person say that the market is bad right now and it will just continue to worsen. What do you guys think about this? Just wanna know.

It’s neither across the board a good or bad industry to work in. If I’m going to make a generalization, it seems that many people underestimate how much effort it takes to succeed, the difficulty of actually attaining success, and fail to understand going in what work is required.
The people who have told you it takes times to get your name out there are understating it. The reason 80% of new agents quit in the first year – 90% in the first 18 months – is that you can bust your tail for years before it’s truly a lucrative career.
The people I know who enjoy it and are successful at it love to solve problems. They are amazing at coming up with solutions to get a seller and a buyer to reach a common point. They can think quickly and keep a cool head as issues arise.
They are dedicated and don’t mind spending half of their 60 hr+ weeks searching for business. They know how to schedule their time so they don’t waste half of their day trying to figure out what they should do next.
They don’t get discouraged when 99 out of 100 people slam doors in their faces or hang up on them…or call them slimy and compare them to used car salesmen.
I suggest you talk to a few brokers and try to shadow some agents before you spend the money to get your license. It may not be what you expect.
